In July 2008, I was
appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to the Illinois
Appellate Court Second District. It has been my
privilege to serve the people of the Second District. I
am seeking election in the February 2010 Republican
Primary. With your help and support I will continue to
serve this court.
The Second District includes 13 counties across northern
Illinois. Any voter in each of these counties has the
opportunity to vote for me in the Republican Primary
Feb. 2, 2010.
I have been a judge for nearly 20 years, serving the
people of DuPage County as a judge in the 18th Judicial
Circuit. In July 2008, it was my privilege to be
appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to the Illinois
Appellate Court - Second District. I am seeking election
to the Appellate Court to keep the seat to which I was
unanimously appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court.
My career began many years ago when my husband and I
chose this community to make our home and raise our
children. As a young lawyer I joined the DuPage County
State’s Attorney’s Office to prosecute criminal cases,
champion the rights of victims and enhance the public
safety in the neighborhoods that make up your community
and mine.
As a trial judge in DuPage County I served in the civil
and criminal courts and supervised our Mandatory
Arbitration Program. I was appointed as the Presiding
Judge of the Felony Division in 1997. During my term, I
saw an opportunity to address the cycle of drug
addiction and crime. With the cooperation of other
departments we instituted the DuPage County Drug Court
Program. Drug Court offers non-violent addicted
offenders rigorous treatment, intense supervision and
rehabilitation. I assumed the role as the first
Presiding Judge of the DuPage County Drug Court and
served there until 2007. I am very proud of the Drug
Court and what has been accomplished.
In 2002, I was honored to be elected President of the
Illinois Judge’s Association. In 2005 my fellow Circuit
Judges elected me to serve as the Chief Judge in DuPage
County, the second largest court system in the State of
Illinois. There are 42 Circuit and Associate Judges in
DuPage County. As Chief Judge I oversaw the
administration of 40 criminal, civil and domestic
relations courts; as well as the Department of Probation
and Court services, Court Reporters, electronic
recording, Public Defender’s Office, 275 employees and a
budget over 20 million dollars.
Through out my career in the circuit court, it has been
my life long commitment to promote the efficiency and
effectiveness of our courts and to assist those who come
to the court for resolution and justice.
In my current position as an Appellate Court Judge, I
will continue to work to enhance our courts, preserve
the rule of law and foster the principles of fairness
and integrity, which are the cornerstone of our justice
system.
I am asking for your support and
YOUR VOTE on
February 2, 2010.
